I don't know about you, but for me, this was a long, long, long week. It's almost over and to add to it, I get to leave early from work today to start this train weekend. Lets see what we all have planned for this weekend. Saturday: well technically tonight, my buddy from Michigan should be here to load his modules into his car before the two of us head to Decatur Illinois to set up the Galesburg City Job. My other buddy Brian is meeting us there so he can pick up two of his covered hoppers I painted for him. We plan on getting the layout set up and running at the convention center before 7:00PM then heading home for dinner and a good nights rest. We'll get up somewhat early Saturday to head to one of my favorite dinners in downtown Decatur before spending the day at the layout, running trains and generally running a muck. After the show, we plan to grab some dinner and follow the former ROW of the Illinois Terminal as well as the Wabash, now NS to Bement then end up at the Monticello Railway Museum. Sunday: The show doesn't open until 11:00 so we plan to sleep in a bit, have a breakfast here and maybe do a bit of rail archaeology on the way to the show. I also need to find a few books on the BN as well as possibly commit on a Kato BN NW2 I saw last week. Hmm, decisions... We'll start to take the layout down on Sunday around 4:00 and again, the feelings will be bittersweet. This will be my last Decatur Train Fair, a show I always enjoyed going to in the spring and again in the early fall. Our next show will be the Ohio N Scale Weekend in Columbus Ohio in May. We'll grab a bite to eat before we each head home and start a new work week. So how about you? What do you have planned for this weekend? Train shows, work sessions, hobby shop visits? Let us know. We'll assemble once again on Monday the 10th to see how we all did. Until then, be safe, have fun, enjoy the hobby and as always... High Greens!
Yeah - it was a crazy work week for me as well. Oh well -- a few more hours!! As for my plans.... I will be receiving my new cable for my ESU Lokprogrammer today -- looking forward to fine tuning and tweaking my transplanted BLI PA's. Last weekend, I installed Loksound select micro decoders in them. As for my layout - haven't decided what I want to tackle this weekend. Perhaps when I go up to my train room tomorrow morning - I will get inspired by something. There is plenty to do. Ya'll have a great weekend, Wolf
I made a hardware store run the other night and, along with materials for several household projects, picked up the wood needed to permanently set up my LED strip lighting. That will be fairly straightforward, and I still need to pick up the hardboard and paint for the fascias.
Craziness is just beginning for me - we closed on a new house today. So there's the moving, and the measuring for a layout space, and the myriad of we gotta get it done to make the house work projects. Oh, and the domestic COO, the domestic lady in waiting and the domestic hogger in training have a ballet to attend tomorrow in my parents town (2.5 hours away) so there's a tad bit of a kink in the schedule. I'm also on the steep side of the learning curve for SCRAM.
I would like to put some trees and ground clutter on a few places this weekend. I am sure the trees will disappear, like I never put any on at all.
Aye - finally the weekend is here! Long weekend for me, as I theoretically have Monday off - at least if nothing breaks that someone else can't take care of. I got several kinds of ballast and ground cover from Uncle Amazon this week, and Auntie eBay was kind enough to add a few things, so I have many plans. Probably none of which will actually get done! I did manage to get the wiring done on the yard this week, so I'm in hopes of getting some rail/tie painting done and some limited ballasting, mostly to see what it looks like. One of the random pictures that came up at logon showed a gorgeous layout and one of the pictures gave me an idea for what to do with the END of my yard, so I might make some preliminary shots at that, if only via imagination!
Getting ready to head to an all day ops session on my friends lay out, for an open house!! Tomorrow, I need to run to Lowe's and get some more snow base! (White paintable caulk) I can't believe how much snow it takes to cover a 2 x 8 module!!!! I have used 22 tubes so far, and I'm about 85% done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We will be cutting plywood for faceplates(module joints) and assembling modules today. We are looking to build six modules; four based on the HOGRR, two to facilitate adding freemoN modules to the HOGRR, and whatever else we have time for.
Saturday resulted in six matched pairs of endplates for the HOG style RR modules and two freemoN endplates for added enjoyment. I know it does not look exciting but when you see the photo of last weeks efforts(below) it brings a little understanding. OK, maybe.
