well folks there's 20 inches of snow out there and still coming here in Northern Massachusetts!
Question for the experienced out there... expansion underway - I have foam board down, mountains "roughed in" with plaster cloth, roadbed down and track ensuing. Was wondering about the techniques used for weathering track / landscaping. For instance, how many of you spray the track before laying (atlas code 80)? If not, how do you minimize overspray in a closed basement? do you spray the roadbed before laying track? paint the whole surface before laying roadbed? Just interested in the order of events that some of you have had good success with. I'm dreading spraying in the closed basement, but don't see another way to weather this track without a coupla years of tedious painting! For any new track going down I'm planning to spray it outside (once it warms up!) two more questions - airbrush or is there a good can / color that works for weathering track? anyone used the wahl oil trick on the rail tops? thanks in advance, Ray |

Ray-
Hopefully someone will help me out here- There's an art supply paint pen that some folks have used with excellent results. I cannot think of a name for it right now. This would eliminate the need to spray. And it's fairly speedy to apply. Boxcab E50 ![]() Railroadiana? Please visit my TRAIN ORDERS web site!"If it ain't broke, you're not trying!" Up Mike:
I have the Rusty Rails Track Painter and I'm using it for my new turntable/engine yard module as well as my new switching module. I'll redo all the track on the finished part of the JJJ&E as well. Unitrack is code 80. I've used the wheel for the code 80 rail and also tried the code 55 plastic disc which gives you a finer paint line. I do recommend this handy track painter. It 's easy to use and doesn't make a mess. I've called Joe at Joes Model Trains and he goes out of the way to help. He updated the product after I ordered it and he sent me the updated version. I'll take some photo's of the painted track in the next few days. Stay cool and run steam.....
