british columbia railway to bc rail

Hi

I just got my copy of Brian A. Elchlepp's book "British Columbia Railway to BC Rail", June 1984 through December 1987. I didn't expect such a lot of photos, but I was really surprised! All pictures are in color and of a superb quality; stunning work!!

I really recommend this book for BC Rail collectors!

Rgds, Daniel

Thanks for the recommendation. I am just now watching my Pentrex video on BC Rail again. The footage seems to be mostly 1980s and 1990s.

Well, I snuck a peak at the book in the store recently and it is a very appealing visual collection, but I was not overly impressed with the book as a whole. Although there are lots of good pictures, the captions and picture explanations are very minimal, so it's hard to get a sense of the story of events taking place in the pictures.

There is a text section at the beginning of the book, but I got the overall impression that historical and contextual details are not really fleshed out, especially in the sense of the pictures themselves having little to no explanation of what is happening in each scene, aside from the basic location and locomotive numbers. Also, some of the images seemed immediately familiar, so I'm pretty sure some have been published before. All in all: a nice book to look at, but, to me, at least, really not worth the price at well over $70.
