USA Trains Info Registry

Route66 Has asked me a good question a while back and I had to ponder about it for a while. How do we get knowledge of what was produced by USA trains. Then it hit me, back in the day when I went into the muscle car hobby, there were registries formed for each type of muscle car. People who bought them would register them to each group voluntary. The registires were a big hit, we could tell you how many of each color, with what options and how many were out there. I want to start something similiar here on Train Board, as we find rare Charles Ro or even regular USA production pieces, we could list them here.

So here is our new USA Trains Info registry, not a product to register with USA trains, but just a info registry to keep track for future generations of products made by USA Trains. Our good friend Solase has already done some hard work tracking down most of the R1600 series woodside reefer cars. Route66 whol oves the USA piggyback trains has started a nice list also.

I myself will also start researching some USA trains production information to list here. All are welcome to list any Charles Ro or USA trains here whether they are special runs, custom runs or regular runs.

I have already compiled a list of USA Trains American R1900 series steel and woodside box cars which are 1:24 scale ratio. Like what hapened with Solase, I noticed there are some gaps in the list we need to find. These could have been special runs not advertised in the USA catalog. Here is the list I have compiled on the R1900 USA American Series wood & steel box car.

New Note: Unfortunately I also found out that USA Trains used the same R1900 series stock numbers for woodside and steel box cars. You would have thought they would have came up with another series number to keep confusion down, but they didn't. I have put next to each car whether it's suppose to be a steel or woodside type box car.

I will keep editing this list as I find more of the missing ones

It could be true, but I have no knowlege of this USA heritage series woodside reefer car, it's suppose to be Prospect and Upper Ridge USA Heritage series #4. Here is a list of USA Trains R1700 American series flat cars in 1:24 scale ratio. It seems that some of the original Charles Ro flat cars also used R1700 series stock numbers and have eventually evolved into only being used for Piggy Back Flat cars.

I would like to thank Route66 for inspiring me to start such a thread. Route66 has also found some nice rare USA piggyback flat cars and posted them in his thread, make sure you visit him there. He found a nice Budwiser Clydesdale piggyback, what would be the part number on that one Route66?

Be prepared most of the early piggybacks go for $100.00-$150.00 I have aquired a few early Beer Reefers in the $50.00 range

I wrote the person who has this car for the stock # he stated USAT didn't put numbers on the boxes of their cars??? which we know isn't completely true but anyhow could this be one of the missing reefers on solase's list my guess would be #16008 Rd # 103 wooden shoe lager

Thanx for the info Route66. In a way it is nice to know that some USA items do go up in value, most are limited production. When USA Trains makes a road name, they just don't keep on producing it for the next 10 years. This was a problem with Aristocraft, they never came out with new road names, just kept beating the same old road names to death. Piggybacks do seem to be one of the most USA desired to be collected for some reason, I see alot of bid wars going for those piggy backs.

Here is a list of USA American R1400 series outside braced woodside box cars in the 1:24 scale ratio. This series was never updated to the new USA 6 digit part number system, rather USA kept the Charles Ro 5 digit part number system for this series of cars for some reason, so it will be hard to determine what was made from USA Trains or Charles Ro. I have many gaps to fill here also, hopefully I get some help on this one too.
