    Walthers 130 foot turntable

Walthers has these on sale until March 28th for $170. I just got mine and after a going over I must say I am very impressed. If anyone was thinking of getting one do so now. The Walthers's price is about $50-55 less than the best prices of the E tailers I checked.

Thanks for that! Really appreciate the heads up.

The roundhouse and add-on stalls are also on a substantial sale. Those prices brought them down to something I can afford to have sent all the way over to Australia. Turntable, roundhouse and three add-on stalls on the way (soon, hopefully! :^)

The old Heljan roundhouse also works well. Here's an 18-stall (3 kits) facility.

Besides price, what's the advantages between the Atlas TT and the Walthers 130' TT. I always liked the looks of the Walters TT but it was out of my price range. So I went with the atlas TT. It's not installed yet so I can change my mind with the Walters price changes.

Now the question (a little late but that's me) will the Atlas or the Walthers handle the new Challengers and Big-Boys.

The Walthers is a 130' turntable so it will handle the Big Boy and the Challenger.

The Atlas turntable bridge is 100' in length. The Union Pacific used to turn 106'5" 4-6-6-4s on a 100' turntable at Denver by using wedges to jack up the rear tender truck so that it cleared the approach rails. You could do the same and be prototypical, don't know about the BigBoys.

This is actually the second time Walthers has had the 130' TT on sale ... last time it was at $179.98. But "Thanks!" for the heads-up on this sale. I found the add stall for my roundhouse; the ash pit; and the farm co-op all for about $75.00!! S&H extra of course!! :tb-cool:

I like the looks of the Wathers turntable so much I decided to re-work my old Heljan turntable (cause I'm to cheap to buy the Walthers - besides, I don't really need the extra length).

I'm with you Tim. Besides i don't want to rip up all the stall tracks and approach tracks.
Has anyone ever done a review on the 130' table?
Does the indexing allow the stall/track number to be set and it seeks it or must one watch and when it gets close to the desired track release the forward/back switch and then it seeks the correct track? Does it assign a throttle to the selected stall( for us DC guys)?
    Thanks
    Al
