Thumbs up SEE THE OTHER THREAD ABOUT THIS - Free program will download your RailImages album(s)

This program will download a web site including images if configured properly. I have not yet had time to run through the settings to post directions but perhaps an experienced user will do it before I get around to it in the next day or so.

For those of you with large RailImages albums (who may be waiting on me to download and zip your albums) this may be just the thing.

    Cool Good info!

Thanx for the heads up. I've heard of this software but have yet to download it and try it. I will have some time at home this week and plan on giving it a try. If I have any luck I'll share any tips I discover.

Out here in the middle of Nowhere, this computer will not allow me to transfer pics to a new RI account. However, when I get home next week, I'll give it a whirl.

Besides, I've got 2 full CDs of pics to download (all of trains, of course...)

    Arrow Instructions

Here is a tutorial on their site.

As far as RailImages, (and I will use Paul's site as an example), the URL to a users album as viewed on the site looks like this: http://www.railimages.com/gallery/paulcassar but, the actual images are in a directory with a URL like this: http://www.railimages.com/albums/paulcassar

Note the difference between the directories gallery and albums. Your photos are actually stored in albums.

Download and install HTTrack. Start it up and enter these values:
    • New Project Name: RailImages Album
    • Category: Leave Blank
    • Base Path: Wherever on your computer you want it to store the photos.
    • Click "Next"
    • Action: Download Web Site(s)
    • Web Address (URL): http://www.railimages.com/albums/paulcassar
    • Did you enter the /gallery URL? If you did, this will not work.
    • Click "Next"
    • Click "Finish" (and it will begin).
Wait until the process is complete. This could take some time.

More information on this process follows.

The program will tell you when it is finished.

Then, you can open Windows Explorer and see the files that you downloaded, all your photos!

But, there is something you need to do before you upload these files to the new RailImages.

If you are a Windows user, click on Start > Search and the Windows Search box will pop up.

Click on All Files and Folders.

Then under Look In, select Browse and navigate to the directory where your files are stored.

    More to follow...

    Red face

Geez, now, after I've spent about 60 hours uploading almost 400 photos to my new RailImages account one by one, y'all find an easier way! :giggle7yc: :giggle7yc: :giggle7yc:

Just sent Charlie an email to eliminate my old account.
