Well, Diamond Valley has got a loading ramp, Bagel Bakery (http://www.westportterminal.de/H0-USA/structure_e4.html)	, Oil dealer...

Well, Diamond Valley has got a loading ramp, Bagel Bakery	, Oil dealer	.
Now basic scenery is finished, only the scrap yard needs some basic.
I've added the scrap yard fence.

Now I'm busy with the scrap yard. First structure was bundler building, now the place itself. I found a decades old Revell kit for a crane. A scrap yard needs a crane!

I've changed the kit a little bit. More suggestions?

New is not correct, this is a used engine, I've weathered it a little bit.
Well, this was an undec Atlas / Kato engine. Now it got a temporary decoder. I'm waiting for a sound decoder. Therefore this engine has no light.

Here comes the engine just out off the shop.

It's a good idea to let the turnbuckles really do their job. You have to rework the Brackets and turnbuckles with a drill and reamer.

At last I had to paint the brass parts a rusty color.

Next step were the three spreader timbers, 1.9 cm long. ( 1.9cm x 87 = 165cm = 5' 5''). The angle plates are from brass sheet stripes. For the tie rods I used turnbuckles from CUSTOM FINISHES; T165 for 0.015 DIA and Coupler Lift Bar Brackets 229-102213 from Detail Associates.

Diamond Valley has a team track. They needed a loading ramp too. Sometimes arrives farmery equipement on flat cars which has to be unloaded.
Instead of building a new ramp they bought an old used heavy-equipment loading ramp.
Such a ramp described Harry W. Brunk in Model Railroader January 1990, p 122. This project is just suitable for scratch building.

first I calculated the data like 24' length x 30.48 will be 732 centimeters, divided by 87 I get 8.4 cm. This way I got the main data and looked / sawed suitable wood which I stained at first. The first picture shows the main pieces.
Then I made the vertical short support timbers. This required a bit sanding.

Next part was fun, drilling holes and inserting the nut-bolt-washers and drift bolts.

The next two pictures show the two end of the hood. At first the short hood. You see the LED with resistor for the light, 680 Ohm.
You see also the wires from the beacon light LED and resistor. I've drilled a hole in the middle of the shell. I've painted the LEDs black.

Then you can unsolder the resistor, put the wires though the hole in the roof, and again solder the resistor. Again testing. Everything works? Then you can glue the beacon light to the roof.
Next work is inside the shell when the glue is dry.

My new Alco RSD-5 should get an beacon light, and sound.

Westport Terminal RR engines get the Flasher Beacon (Details West RB-106).
To install a yellow LED these LED has to sanded. And the body of the beacon light must get a wider hole.

It will take some time.

The other step, sanding the LED. The round top has to be flattened and the torus must go!

Take your time and test occasionally the LED. Don't forget the resistance, about 700 Ohm. When the LED suits into the beacon socket you can cut the legs. At first one leg. This gets the wire with resistor soldered.

I've got an second hand Atlas/Kato RS 3. Not DCC ready but undec!
This engine should become a new engine for my Westport Terminal RR. And I got trucks for RSD 4, too.

I painted the shell in WT colors. I removed the plastic board with wire connections.
A ESU Loksound micro was in my box. So I testet the engine with DC. When I stalled the engine current was about 500 mA. This would work for the decoder.
For light I installed two LEDs. This saved space.

This picture shows the decoder just top of the motor. For the speaker I found space above one truck.
Here're the first two tests.

This engine got the name after Albert Abraham Michelson, the first American physicist who received the Nobel Prize in sciences

Friday it will get a more suitable sound. And there're some railings missing, some dirt, ....

For the throw bar actuation I put the piano wire into the small brass tube and make a bend. This fasten the wire, too.

The push-pull-rod is fastened with eyelets.

The throw bar wire is connected to the push-pull-rod with terminal strips.

For frog polarity and to give a spring for the points I use a SPDT switch, also DPDT switches. Then you can get the LEDs lightened at your panel.
For the switch I soldered a washer to a piece of rod, also connected with terminal strips.

This way you can adjust everything.

This will be the attached part of the scrap yard. But for transport the attachement will be the fifth part in a box.
This was an idea from my son Benjamin.
Now I can start with the turnout devices and with wiring.
