Almost, Almost

Posted June 12th, 2007 at 04:34 PM by Fotheringill (fotheringills-blog)

Tantalizingly close to completion of the benchwork by carpenter. He is using 1/8" MDF for the backdrop and 1/2" MDF for the layout base over the benchwork. I can't wait until I have full control back of my basement and I can start in earnest.

I will be using Atlas Code 55 track. No matter what I did with the Kato Unitrack, it just never looked right to me after ballasting, etc.

Two drinking glasses (artifacts) discovered behind old walls along with what can only be described as an ancient thubbscrew.

The bar was a travail. Two demo people with sledge hammers took well over an hour to knock it down and cart it out. It was real brick,...

At a standstill

Posted November 3rd, 2006 at 02:56 AM by Fotheringill (fotheringills-blog)

As many of you know, I am redoing my basement to accommodate an expansion. The major problem is that it is too small for a legitimate contractor to handle. A neighbor across the street will be the GC, although he is a carpenter by trade.

The demolition guy is raring to go.
The plumber cut out the water and drain lines of the 1960's era bar that is going to disappear.
Next is an electrician to cut the power to the lines that the demolition guy might electrocute himself...
