  1. 2 Month Delay, A G & HO Update

RL Crap basically fell on top of me, so I'll cut straight to the chase and throw photos up next week.

Starting with the G-Scale, the first interior part of my LGB Bobber is glued into place. The track is being reworked to run around the couch, coffee table, then around the back half of the room and reconnect with cross over switches to access where the engine shed will be. Also at this month's show I picked up a piece of replacement LGB Track. Exciting, No? I also skipped the show ...
  2. G-Scale Major Announcement plus the breakdown train

Lets start with the HO Scale division. My MOW BN Diner is arrived. It's being held my LHS for pickup tonight. I will combine the photos and review of that car with the sleeper. I know I'm behind schedule on that. I also need a pack of Kadee's too. Slowly the breakdown train is getting finished. I still need Walther's MOW Tank Car, Difco dump cars, and steel braced gondola. I also need the Hart Ballast Cars from Atlas and the MOW Combine/RPO/Baggage from the old Athearn BB Kits (To be painted and ...

  3. The Christmas Train Part Duex

I don't normally do back to back blogs. But last night I began a project shift to get my aristocraft equipment running around the tree. Now all my equipment was desgined for 4 foot radius curves. But the Kadee coupler on my Alco FA-1 was uncoupling from the 2-Bay Coal hopper's aristocraft knuckle. That got me thinking. Install Kadees on the coal hopper. So I went to my Local Hobby Shop and bought a set of Kadee #830 Body Mount Couplers. Assembly was easy. Except for attachment onto the stock pads ...

  4. Holiday Trains - Project Focus Shift

Someone here on trainboard celebrated his 25th year in the model railroad hobby. I'm about to celebrate 22 years on my end this christmas day. And it got me thinking about that. What was that first trainset I had? An LGB D&RGW Starter Set. She's still runnin strong today. Pure Western German Made. Yes I said western German. The wall wasn't down at that time yet. The quality of how well the set has held up is amazing to me. So I decided that I would put my track down around the tree and put the ...

  5. The Newest Addition Comes Home (HO Scale)

Well today was a brief run to the local train show. First off, I sold the CTA Green Hornet PCC. Overall, I kept telling myself that I was okay with something when I wasn't. And I needed the money for something else. And since I only really bought it because it said "Wrigley Field" on it, I felt it was time to part ways. I sold it for 150 to my local Hobby Shop/Distributors. I'm sad to see it go, but Perhaps someone else will enjoy it more than I will.

But I digress and we ...
  6. But what about the freight train?!

Yeah. I got asked this a lot when mentioning my passenger set ups. "What? No Freight Train?!" Working on it. I had very little money to work with and it's now gone. Most of which was spent setting up the 10-Car Walthers Burlington Northern Coaches (I wanted a full set for reasons that are blatently obvious) and the Rainbow Fleet. But I did pick up a few purchases and my Freight Train consists of the following:

Kato SD-70MAC Burlington Northern Executive Colors (<3 this ...
  7. Christmas at our house 2010

    by , February 1st, 2011 at 12:14 AM (Mr. Train's Trainboard collection)
Our new (6-months old) grandson at Christmas. I haven't set up the train for a couple years. With the new one joining the family this year setting up the train was a must. Well I enjoy showing it to all three grandchildren but I had some one new this year. Enjoy

  8. Shifting Focus on Active Projects

Like many other model railroaders, I let my projects stack up. So in priority, I'll be finishing up the MOW Heavyweights throughout the year as an on going project. The Diner needs black underframe/trucks and a white roof. The coach needs....everything. I backed off for a bit to recover finances and am now starting up on detail projects I've forgotten about.

My FA/FB Project gets jump started again. I had drilled for grab irons in the nose and never finished it. Grab Irons are on order ...

  10. Wolfcreek & Iron Mountain <> Newsletter #6

To all Wolfcreek & Iron Mountain Officials. Weclome to the WC&IM Newsletter 2.0. We start off with a new logo. Currently we are voting to determine a petition to Burlington Northern Corporate in Minneapolis, MN to put said logo on the noses of our locomotives. Right now no word on the decision.

But today we continue the look at our Motive Power's history. 2072, that Alco FB-1 is next up. Built In 1950, ...

  11. Wolfcreek & Iron Mountain <> Newsletter #5

To All Wolfcreek & Iron Mountain Officials. Today we continue the 3 issue segment on our motive power. Their histories, where they came from and why they are here. Today we focus on GE U25-B Burlington Northern 5406. A unit that was again like 2022 part of Spokane, Portland, and Seattle, 5406 retained her number into the Burlington Northern Merger. She started life as SP&S 5406. Working the Spokane Freight shipments ...

  13. Wolfcreek & Iron Mountain Alco FPA-4/FPB-4 Conversion Project

This list is mental internet note aswell as an ongoing project for all to see about the conversion of my Aristocraft Alco FA-1/FB-1 to Montreal Locomotive Works FPA-4/FPB-4.

The reason for this project is two-fold. First, I've seen a pair at Montecello, Illinois in Canadian National Paint. Good to see these units restored and working. Second, I found a couple pictures at Railroad Paintshop with a few modifications ...

  14. Wolfcreek & Iron Mountain <> Newsletter #3

To All Wolfcreek & Iron Mountain Officials. Many thanks to the volunteers pitching in to help out. Wolfcreek's recovery, however, has been delayed due to another winter storm. But this time we're prepared. 5406 and 2022/2072 will be joined by a couple of helpers from our Southern Pacific sister line, Northern California Lines. A Pair of F3A&B's and an RS-3 will be helping us out. But more importantly the status of Wolfcreek. ...

  15. Wolfcreek & Iron Mountain <> Newsletter #2

To All Wolfcreek & Iron Mountain Officials. 2009 Began with a bang. Literally. Our two snowplow units were doing their best to keep the lines clear and throughout the holiday seasons we were able to stay open. No one saw the changes in weather coming. We knew the warm weather would melt the snow, but when Wolf Creek flooded, Wolfcreek rapidly began to take on water. 2022/2072 & 5406 rapidly moved equipment out of the ...
