  1. 4 Years, where's the project today?

Where have I been hiding the last couple of years? Dunno, been lurking, but it doesn't matter. This is the 4th year of the HO Scale project that started the layout rebirth. A lot has gone down and here's where the project is in a nutshell (Beginning with stuff to be done).

First off, my 10-6 Burlington Sleeper, GN Big Sky Blue Vista Dome and GN Empire Builder Omaha Orange Observation (due out 28th April) have all been replaced with Walthers Proto Models. Appropriate window tinting, ...

  2. 2 Month Delay, A G & HO Update

RL Crap basically fell on top of me, so I'll cut straight to the chase and throw photos up next week.

Starting with the G-Scale, the first interior part of my LGB Bobber is glued into place. The track is being reworked to run around the couch, coffee table, then around the back half of the room and reconnect with cross over switches to access where the engine shed will be. Also at this month's show I picked up a piece of replacement LGB Track. Exciting, No? I also skipped the show ...
  3. Wrecker Train Photo Update (Delayed Due To "Wrecked" Track Conditions eh heh....)

As promised and a bit late, the photo updates to the Walthers Burlington Northern/BN MOW Diner and Sleeper. Lets start with the diner:

  4. G-Scale Major Announcement plus the breakdown train

Lets start with the HO Scale division. My MOW BN Diner is arrived. It's being held my LHS for pickup tonight. I will combine the photos and review of that car with the sleeper. I know I'm behind schedule on that. I also need a pack of Kadee's too. Slowly the breakdown train is getting finished. I still need Walther's MOW Tank Car, Difco dump cars, and steel braced gondola. I also need the Hart Ballast Cars from Atlas and the MOW Combine/RPO/Baggage from the old Athearn BB Kits (To be painted and ...

  5. Another Member to the Wrecker Train

So I forgone this past month's show in lieu of a sale at Walthers. Their MOW Cars are practically 50 percent off, to be discontinued when sold out. So I dropped an order for the BN MOW Sleeper. And she arrived last week but I wasn't able to pick her up until today. But sharply built as usual. Grab Irons on the doors, coupler cut levers (The lid for the couplers swings forwards, but it's a pain to put it back in place afterwards), the painted interiors the heavyweights have that we've all come to ...

  6. January Backlogged Photo Log - 2013

A Tad backlogged as it's January 31st, but here we go again. Lets kick it off with my building projects. Up first is my bridge pier kit undergoing paint work in PollyScale Aged Concrete:

Now we move on to my grade crossing kit. The grayish part on the back roadplate was a failed enamel setup:

  7. Post Show Update - January 13th, 2013 (Photos To Follow Soon)

Lack Of Photos, Lack Of energy. But Many things being done on the Wolfcreek & Iron Mountain HO Division. Starting with our first purchase of the year, An Athearn Genesis WFEX in BN Yellow. One of those rare seen schemes. I paid about 30 for it but considering this is a 40 dollar model, even 10 dollars is a savings to me. As usual the Genesis models continue to blow my mind and i keep getting them for good deals at the show. I broke it in on the test track behind my Rapido BN Sleeper.

  8. Pre-Great Midwest Train Show 2013 Blog Update

2013, eh? Well This isn't how I wanted to do the post as mentioned last year, but I thought I'd keep everyone updated on what's going on with the Wolfcreek & Iron Mountain. First, lets turn our attention to the Atlas Master Line and Athearn Genesis TOFC's I was working on.

I had mentioned 4 TF-2 Hitches being painted in CP Red. Well two are finished and their on the Genesis Flat Car. They look stunning. That little bit of orange brought the car to life. Now I just need to brave ...

  9. TOFCing In The Face Of ..... The Holidays?

Christmas has come and gone. What did I get? Bascially 50 dollars worth of the LHS. So I decided on a whim to go buy something I've been wanting for a very long time. An Athearn Genesis F89-F TOFC Flat Car. Now let me say off the bat this model is very beautiful and true to the prototype. From teh brake chains to the cut levers and inline hoses. Sadly those hoses are mounted in a way that makes swapping Kadee #158's a challenge. But I digress. Because we'll get to it when we get to it. Amongst the ...

  11. An "Executive" Decision

You know how hard it is to find Southern ANYTHING?! Still working on my cousin's gift. But I found something I had to grab for 30 bucks. It's a Rapido Burlington Northern Duplex Sleeper, lettered and numbered for BNA-22 Steven's Pass. This car is accurate to the prototype in terms of the car type, name and business number. I have to get kadee couplers and a dcc lighting kit and some figures for her, but for now she's test riding behind my Kato SD70MAC. I'm once again blown away by Rapido's job as ...

  12. New Motive Power Joins The Roster

Every once in a while, something comes along, a deal, a bargin, a find. Most of the time you lose out. Well that's my luck anyways. And they say the Luck Of The Irish is real. Yeah, Bad luck. Anyways. I was cruising around that one website who panders to resellers for Southern RR for my cousin. Not finding a lot of anything I ran across a locomotive I swore I'd seen before for almost a year. I remember this Athearn R-T-R SD40-2 that was up for 120 USD. Well Saturday she was up for 85, Free 2 Day ...

  13. Highway Overpass Micro Update

I didn't get a chance to snap photos but my overpass has both roads glued onto each other and I redid the beams. They were not in the correct position. The beams are supposed to overlap the next road section for stability. So some prying, a minor road break (that will be hidden with the side railings), filing, sanding, gluing and painting and the beams are all down and joined together, although a tad mis aligned which I'll fix the section that is later. The next plan is going to be painting the ...

  14. When The Track Breaks Down.....Or My New Crane's Tender

I skipped the local show and this post is a week overdue but there was a good reason for it. Everyone knows that I bought that American Crane that Walthers made a month or so ago. Well I needed a flat car to work with to build a crane tender on and as I went looking through Walthers catalogue this month I ran across their old MOW 58' Flatcar that was being phased out (By theirs I mean Walthers built it.). It's a 38 dollar flatcar on sale for 18 bucks. So a trip to my LHS and I had her put on order. ...

  15. Highway Overpass Update & Rostering Update

So to start with, I decided to skip the local show this month in lieu of one of Walther's products being listed on sale. So the BN MOW Flat Car is being phased out and being ordered. So now I'm going to build a custom crane derrick system on the top. Fun project.

No news on the engine shed front. Nothing has been completed yet. Moving on. The Highway Overpass has gotten a second companion. This too is the early overpass system that will be painted the same and have the modern concrete ...
