View Full Version : Waiting for the San Antonio Rock Train

My quarterly rail fan trip was to the UP San Antonio engine terminal. Here is the west bound stack train waiting for the east bound rock train. It is completely blocking two crossings one block apart. I am not sure of the circumstances, but I believe this is not the normal procedure.

Fun to watch. It's not the best part of town, but I was ready to take them on with hand to gland. No worries.

Neat! I expect that you have a lot more train action near your home than I do.

Up here in Sherman, we have rock trains on the BNSF and DGNO. BNSF usually runs Dash-9s and GEVOs, while the DGNO job has the usual dog's breakfast motive power. But since it runs at night, I have no pics of the latter.

UP was holding a STACK TRAIN for a ROCK HAULER????? :tb-err:
