Lets get the contests going again and have as great a year as 2007. Some awesome photography was seen and I know this year won't disappoint. I'll try and do my best filling in for Paul while he's finishing his schooling.
First contest....Streamlining. Lets see what you can get this weekend. Lots of possibilities.... passenger trains, banked curves, aerodynamic locomotives, (Both steam and diesel), you think it and photograph it and let the judging begin. Most of all.....HAVE FUN!!!

Glad to see the contests are up again. I didn't have a chance last year since I just recently joined.

Thanks for stepping in OC! Just be careful, if you do too good of job, Paul won't take his job back. :) Looking forward to taking my new truck out to shoot some trains.

If I was at my railfanning spot in Missouri I could get a great shot for this contest. But I'm not, so this is going to be a hard one for me. Oh well, that's half the fun I guess is thinking of a good spot to shoot.

I absalutly have no streamliners around me for a 150 mile radius. Guess I'm out of this one.:we-frown::we-cry::we-no:

Here is a "Pocket Streamliner" just down the road from Flash's place in San Antonio today. This is the ex Santa Fe Vista Valley behind a not so streamlined critter.

Man, have I missed these contests!
A night shot, but a night shot is better than nothing.
Sparks, Nevada colored me surprised when Greg Elems and I saw D&RGW Royal Gorge resting with the Snow Train:

For this year's first REACH...

I won't apologize, I bet in the late years of nationwide passenger service, most railroads would've killed to have a passenger train look as streamlined as these new coal gons do. :D
But the real "stream lining" is done here by the rare Texas snow melting away on a completely awesome Saturday afternoon.

This is what I came up with. We were taking my son back to Grand Valley State University in Allendale MI last night, and as we drove past West Shore Fire Repair, I remembered that they have Rock Island RR streamline passenger car Golden State/Golden Vista attached to their building and used as office space:

Well...The best I could come up with is an SCL passenger car that has been made into some manner of restaurant in Charlestown, Indiana. There really isn't any good angles to get a shot of this "complex", but I got what I could. There is a small industrial locomotive, boxcar, and caboose on the site as well.
