I still like those F7s. Nice lights on them, too!

I saw that era. And sure do miss it. Modern railroading may be a marvel. But for those of us who knew the transition era, what we see today just doesn't have that special appeal.

Great stuff Wolfgang!

Just don't let those "Dolly Sisters" stray very far from Shoreham. They were not considered too reliable. :)

this thread is reminding me of Bob Rivards Layout. I had the privilege to visit his a few years back with our own GATS. :)

these are the pics Gary took while we were there.

Time flies DiezMon,
That was in 2001. Gary was taking my car up to the cities and was going to drop me off at work on the way. We heard about 9/11 on the radio as we were going in to Mankato. It looks like he was at Bob Rivards before that though.

yeah, it was definately before 9/11.. the dates must be when he burned the CD? :)

Very nice shot, Wolfgang. There's something about F-units that says Soo, and the Dolly Sisters... if only in N... :D

From memory, you both met at Bob Rivard's the night we visited the layout and I took the photos. As for the date, I can't recall whether it was just before or just after 9/11 (the photo file info says 9/19 though I feel that was too long after 9/11), but I do vividly recall driving Dee to work the morning of 9/11. It was the white sedan, Dee, the Dodge? We turned the radio on mid way to Mankato about 10 minutes after the first plane hit and were listening to the speculation of what had happened, then the second plane hit. We looked at each other and I recall saying "this isn't good" in reference to what could transpire. The rest is history. Oh, and I went onto Rochester that day... ;)

I remember Tim having the newly created MILW SD10 you brought along to Bob's, and I took a photo of Bob's HO Soo SD40-2 764 and my N version of 764 on his layout.
I also remember a huge number of ceiling obstructions navigated whilst viewing Bob's beautiful layout.:tb-shocked:

Memories... far, far, FAR too long between drinks...
