This is the best thread I have seen for calculating the dimensions of a spiral helix. (http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=85383) In fact, using this excel spread sheet, you just enter your dimensions and the spread sheet completes the calculations. Ppuinn has made the helix computation a very simple matter. Please read this before you construct a helix.
