This is our initial effort at our new How To Forum (HTF). Our intention is to assemble threads that help modelers of all scales. We have begun with threads from the N scale forum as that is the largest modeling forum and will require the most work. The threads may be tutorials, tips, information, etc. These threads will be from TrainBoard but they may have links to other forums. The threads in this How To Forum will be locked, but will contain a brief description and a link to the original, unedited thread. The HTF thread may contain links to several TrainBoard threads on the same subject and some TB threads may have links to locations outside of TrainBoard. If you find any of the threads broken or inoperative, please send an email to support@tb.com with the information..

To find information, you should use the TB keyword search in the HTF just as you would search for any topic. Hopefully, this will give you the information you need to locate the thread here and then link to the original. If not, please post a query in another appropriate forum other than the HTF.

Comment: Threads prior to 2005 seem to have a lot of pictures missing so the information in them is difficult to follow and those threads will probably not be included here. It is bad that this is so as we will lose the information, but it also means that this task of creating the How To Forum may be finite.

Please offer suggestions for topics, ideas, etc. Post suggestions in this forum if you wish or make a topic in the Support forum. Thanks.

More extensive tutorial threads will follow.

If you go to this HTF and look at the number of views that many of these threads have had, you will see that they "are" or "were" very popular. The HTF will bring some of these great ideas back and make them easier to locate.

Flash,

Just a quick "Thank You" for this forum. It's very useful and saves a lot of time I used to spend in Search mode.

Happy New Year!

I am fairly certain that I saw on this forum some detailed decoder installation instructions for both the Kato Mikado and the Atlas Shay. I would love to see these in the How To forum.

Great idea!

I will certainly looks for those, as DCC impaired as I am. I just hope the photos are still there. That is one of the problems we have with older threads.

If the Kato Mikado is the one I am thinking about PowerSteamGuy1790 wrote that. He has left TrainBoard, so that thread now has no photos and is of little value, IMHO. Here is the thread as it is now. (http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=81472)

Hi Flash,

Your most recent, How to make poly fiber trees, didn't include a link.

Could I suggest a "sticky" with a index of links? Since my settings are designed only to show threads updated in the last X months?
