1. All challenges close at 12 midnight (24:00 hours) Eastern Standard Time on Monday 8th October 2007, and will be noted with a "Time's up!" post within the thread.
2. Please use the challenge as a motive to take a new photograph rather than using a photograph that you have taken in the past.
3. Challenges are open to everyone, have fun!!
4. Though not required, commenting on other peoples pictures is encouraged.
5. Only one image per participant so please choose the image carefully.
6. Any posts with images taken before the commencement of the challenge will be deleted.
7. For photos to be eligible they must be taken between the 5th and 8th of October 2007.
8. Ensure dates and times on your camera are correct.
I look forward to seeing many contributors, remember this is to encourage all modellers to take a shot of the subject rather than post a photo taken in the past.

Instead of a worm made up of brown BNSF grain hoppers I offer an ATSF Cement Worm.

C&S Models undecorated cylindrical hopper with Gold Medal Models details. Silver paint as delivered and home made decals except for the "Southern Pacific." I have a prototype photo, but it is almost unrecognizable because of the dirt.

BN DO16 Unit Coal train has almost finished its run from Decker Montana through Pekin Illinois to the Powerton Electrical Station just south of Pekin. The Peoria and Pekin Union Ry's Corn Products Transfer is bringing a string of starch covered hoppers from the Corn Products Plant in Pekin to the main P&PU Yard in East Peoria Illinois.

This is a very cool and fun little engine! Its a MicroAce (a manufacturer from Japan, worth looking into if you have not herd of them before) C-type DD12 loco, pulling my 2 favorite hoppers, owned by Thunder Bay Mining. Would you believe I even fit a decoder inside this little guy!
The crew enjoys a beautiful morning sunrise while they wait for a green light up ahead.

On the top is C&O Texas 2-10-4 Pulling a string of empties. The next level down are a few loads heading down the mountain. Below is an Allegheny with a mile of loaded coal hoppers waiting on a Mike. A string of empies roll underneath the Alleghey while a loaded coal train heads to Indiana. And to round it out at the bottom of the photo is a hopper that rolled down the hill and spilled a load of West Virginia coal!!

What a beautiful shot oldrk! The gray scale scheme really adds to it. Sends you back in time in a way. Was the derailed hopper something planned on the layout or something that happened by mistake and you just decided to leave it (or just include it in the picture)?

Mystere,
I actually did that by plan. Although, I have derailed my share of hoppers over the years.*L*

Some great shots, here.
Mystere, how do you like that Japanese locomotive? The reason I ask is that I have seen them available online and have considered buying one.

I'm very satisfied with it. Especially for what it cost. I actually have an informal review under this thread:
