The first time I lived in New Hampshire (1969-1975) I spent a bit of time at the Yard in Manchester. It was the only show in town.

I had a little old Kodak 127 camera and Black & White film. The yard was populated by two or three switchers. This one you may recognize from the old Diesel Spotters Guide. This NW2 was rebuilt with a 567A engine out of an E7A and B&M kept the taller exhaust manifold from the E unit. I've looked across the top of this loco from the cab. Wish I had got a photo of that.

Well, they did try to provide some excitement a few miles from there over in Milford on the former B&M line that went west to Hillsboro.

There were quite a few SW1s around. The B&M owned something like 24 of them and most of them were still on the roster when I was up there.

Oh my! I've got a photo of the Milford and Bennington's SW900 somewhere around here and they used to use a Gilford SW9 too. My daddy used to work at the Bank in Milford.
