Russell has private messaged me the correct answer. He is a staff member and I said staff were not eligible for the first few and the reason for that is that I had tried a few of these on the staff already but not this one, so good job Russ.

We'll hold off on the answer to give others a chance.

Got it again. It's Wichita, KS. It only took me a five minutes, and I was even on the phone with a customer while I did it. I figured it was middle of the country and just followed an interstate north from Dallas from 10 miles altitude. There it was.

Now I'll stay out of the contest for a while so we don't get more harrassment about the "east coast bias".

It seems funny to hear that given that the ratio of modelers and railfans of midwestern and western railroads to eastern roads here on trainboards is probably three to one or higher.

I don't know how anyone is figuring out these puzzles, so I figure you must be selecting them from some kind of search function, and the people finding them are doing it with some kind of search function.

What's the deal?

There are a few tricks but a search function isn't one of them.
This last contest, the pic just screamsd at me that it was mid west U.S.A. So After I found it I went to post the answer but for the second time someone else was first. Oh Well, it's fun looking. The New Delhi pics said third world all the way and if you loook at a few cities in a particular country then you become familiar with the cities "style" for that particular country. The res and color are also good hints.

Wow, I actually guessed this one right without researching it! It looked familiar as I passed this spot a few years ago on the way to the FOBNR convention in Alliance, NE. I remembered the track arrangement in the area, and I distinctly remember seeing an unpatched D&RGW tunnel motor in the yard.

Nope, no search function. Just logical reasoning. Like Steve posted, the huge grain elevator screamed mid west. Add the adjacent refinery, and now I'm thinking Texas or Oklahoma. The highway appears to be a north-south interstate, so I started my search in Dallas-FW and then followed 1-35 north at 10 miles altitude until the pictures matched.

Finding the New Delhi station took a little more work, but it came down to working through the clues. A major clue was the roads leading out in an circular rows from an apparent round central object. Then I remembered the Connaught Place in New Delhi. Zoomed in and sure enough, there it was. Two for Two.

As for #4, I'm not posting cause it's someone else's turn. But I have a good idea where it is, and when I get a little break I'll see if I'm right.

Great idea for a challenge. This is fun.
