1. All challenges close at 12 midnight (24:00 hours) Eastern Standard Time on Monday 28th May 2007, and will be noted with a "Time's up!" post within the thread.
2. Please use the challenge as a motive to take a new photograph rather than using a photograph that you have taken in the past.
3. Challenges are open to everyone, have fun!!
4. Though not required, commenting on other peoples pictures is encouraged.
5. Only one image per participant so please choose the image carefully.
6. Any posts with images taken before the commencement of the challenge will be deleted.
7. For photos to be eligible they must be taken between the 26th and 28th of May 2007.
8. Ensure dates and times on your camera are correct.

This is the first modelling challenge and I look forward to seeing many contributors, remember this is to encourage all modellers to take a shot of the subject rather than post a photo taken in the past.

Good luck

Not to be obnoxious, but...

I believe you mean 12 midnight Eastern Daylight Time, not Eastern Standard Time. 12:00 AM EST is 1:00 AM EDT.

I only mention it because I've run into trouble with it before, and in the spirit of the competition, it's fun to learn :-)

On that note... did railroads observe daylight savings time?

Colonel

well because of so many time zones around the world provided you image shows the date to be 26th of May it will be accepted :D it is already Saturday the 26th here so I'm about to go and take a photo shortly and post.

Well here in Australia the Railway I work for does observe daylight savings.

That goes to show how TrainBoard spans the globe. Its neat to talk to somebody "tomorrow".
Or in Pauls case, yesterday :)

This is my contribution. It's taken early in the morning on 26'th May.
And the motive is my "Needle Eye" locomotive passing over the wooden trestle dragging with it my newly made "Mann's Creek Hoppers" BTW: Everything is scratch build including the rolling stock except for the chassis and trucks.

Torsja,

As soon as I posted about this challenge in the Z scale forum I knew we would be in for some excellent photos and you haven't disappointed me.

Excellent photo and modelling

This is an oldie, so it's not eligible, but I'm busy with other stuff this weekend, and my camera bodies are in the shop for their yearly cleaning. The D70 picked up a nasty artifact in Alaska, which I got tired of Photoshopping out, and was getting a little graunchy in its mechanism. It's got almost 15,000 shots on it, so it was was time.

Ok...the BearCat is operating freight this weekend cause the kids have got to eat...and they got to cross the bridge when they come to it... A Brace of Kodachrome's cross the final bridge before drifting into town to tie down for the long weekend...

I tried to find an angle that would not show any unfinished areas. I couldn't. Even so, there are so many other flaws with this pic I guess that it doesn't matter so here goes anyhow.....http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/images/icons/icon6.gif A set of helpers have just cut away from their assignment and prepare to head back down the hill and await their next shove........

Awesom Pics everyone...very enjoyable. I will refrain from posting as my bridges right now are support by some sort of straing spongy pink ground :)

Here is my scratch built ballasted through-type plate girder bridge over Salado Creek. There's a low water crossing and a sand bar, too. Other good pictures have been posted for this contest.

Nice work and great shots. Now for the BIG challenge. You have to select the ONE photo you think is best to be entered into the contest. Good luck. :)

Paul

Not sure how to edit my post. Plus I'm replying from a different computer than the one I posted my pictures from so I can't repost (at least not until this evening). So to speed things along, I choose pic #22 (the first thumbnail in my first post). Sorry for not paying attention earlier.

Thanks again. I didn't see the "go advanced" button the first time, but that's what I get for trying to steal a few minutes of work time between meetings and appointments.

I'll read the rules first the next time. As Homer would say.. "D'oh!".

This was a fun one to vote on because I got to see all the modeling efforts. I am getting motivated to get somewhere on my layout. I am still in the middle of the pin-it-to-a-sheet-of-rigid-insulation stage, where I am working on seeing what sorts of track arrangements work and which don't. Medium radius turnouts (in my case, Peco) are not the best for running through at high speeds, for example. It's not the fault of the turnout but that it's just too tight of a radius.

These are some great layouts, shots, modeling efforts...
