And I may not participate this time!
Either not being abole to decide how/what/where for a challenge entry.
Or sticking around home and still getting stuff organized downstairs.
Simplely because I still have too much stuff to deal with.

Either way, whether I participate or not, Good luck to everyone who does partake! This one's gonna be interesting.

At just under 28 MPG, my 6-cylinder FOrd Contour SE can handle it.

Now, if I just had a scanner, I could follow the CSX Fitzgerald Sub down to Waycross.......then the Nahunta Sub to Folkston. Ah, smoke, flames, and fast-moving trains!!

Now that the weekend has finally arrived, I think I can get out and find something that will fit this weeks challenge.
Only home from work for maybe 15 minutes now. So, something later today. Have an idea, in Denver, so we shall see.......

Here's mine:

http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/1521/5-20-2007-64.jpg

SB freight off Atlanta line passes by yard office in Manchester, GA. Ahead is a run down the Fitzgerald Sub thru Cordele (my temporary home) to Waycross. Train to the right is a Birmingham, AL-bound freight just in from Waycross awaiting a fresh crew to continue its run. The SB will not change crews- I'll catch up to it further south around Junction City, GA

This is two of a two of. Two photos of two 4-8-4 Northerns doubleheading a great fan trip on May 19. First shot is northbound with UP 844 in the lead and the second is southbound with SP 4449 in the lead. This was an incredible trip. More to come.

Possibly groaning to one another about their assignment, but more likely just happy to still be gracing a pair of rails, two old school switchers await another grain shuttle at the Con-Agra elevator in Saginaw, Texas.

fitz
May 23rd, 2007, 10:41 PM
Michael, I am pretty sure both were shot between Edmonds and Everett. I'm not that familiar with the territory there and not sure exactly where Steilacoom lies along that route. At the time I was using a zoom lens and concentrating on the locomotives. The scenery through there is really spectacular so it was a distraction. :teeth:

Thanks for the good wishes. I only fan steam, so don't get to enter many of the contests, but this trip was absolutely fantastic and I'm sure glad I went along. I hope the Friends of the 4449 and the other groups involved with the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation succeed in getting a new home for the 4449, 700 and all the other rolling stock at the Brooklyn roundhouse. It's trips like this that help finance that goal. :teeth:
