I have a book titled "The Chesapeake And Ohio Railway in West Virginia Photos, 1940-1960"
On the back cover there is a picture with a caption showing two engines they call RDS-5s. Numbers 5601 and 5600. C&O roster calls them RS-3s. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? They sure look like RS-3s.

C&O #5600-5601 were RS-3 built in 4/55. They were retired 8/68 and traded to GE for U30Cs. Source of data X2234.
The C&O RSD-5s were numbered 5570-5595. Data from X2233.

The C&O was the first customer for Alco's RSD-5's. RSD-5's 5570-5574 were delivered from Alco to the C&O in March/April of 1952. Numbers 5575-5579 were delivered in April of 1952. Numbers 5580 through 5586 were delivered in May of 1952. 5587 through 5595 were delivered in June/July 1952. These were 1600 hp 6-motor road switchers.
The book "The Chesapeake And Ohio Railway in West Virginia Photos, 1940-1960" by Thomas W. Dixon, Jr., and published by the Chesapeake & Ohio Historical Society, is a really good book!
