If you want something you can grow into and expand, think about a Nikon D40, D40x or D80 Digital SLR with interchangeable lenses.

Yes she is! I take the video and she takes the stills.
I also have a Canon A630 now as my simple digital to replace my old Kodak.

Alex, don't rule out that Nikon D40 that was suggested. All the latest stuff I have posted was shot with a D50 which should be pretty equivalent. I love mine. :teeth:

Ford vs. Chevy, PC vs. MAC, Coke vs. Pepsi, etc.
To be 100% fair you can't go wrong with either. There will be those that will give reasons for one over the other and that is because of small preferences that are unique to that individual. Neither are cheep but they will last and grow/expand with you; so in the end they become a very good investment if you truly get into high end photography.

Ok, I'll bite. Why is there a locomotive on a bridge to nowhere hanging off a cliff under the train you're on?

It's a display underneath a large commemorative sign regarding completion of the line.
Or, it could just have been a wreck that was too hard to recover.......
