I lost one of the screws to connect 2 of these together. Is it ok to just use 1 screw?

You should be able to take that screw to a hardware store or electronics store and they can get you something identical. As long as the thread is the same it should be find.

If you are talking about the regular Atlas Switch Controls, then I believe you need to find a replacement screw. When you hook more than one of these together, you use the little spades (rectangular pieces of metal with 'u' cutouts to slip over the screws) provided with the controls to electrically connect them. Without the screw you make good contact.
