That is a very nice photo. Looks like a lot of attention went into its composition, and into the model. Nice backdrop, too. I also like the weathering of the rolling items. Good job.

Here we are entering the second deck, above the main yard. At the extreme upper right, you can see where we are going about two scale miles from now. That's the grade to next deck.

The abandoned station behind the lead unit is scratchbuilt. The rock cliff is a photograph of a granite cliff in Alaska. We're somewhere in mid-Massachusetts. A lot of tobacco is grown here, especially in the Connecticut River Valley. The tobacco is used as the finest of wrappers for cigars.

I have just started a new topic on GP7/9's for people to post images of their models.

Pete, that's a great shot, but where are the drying doors on the sides of the tobacco barn.....:teeth:
(Only an "educated donkey" who'd been in the Valley would ask that. )

Wow! How many folks would know about that?:omg: On a layout this big, details get deferred. Like, the fields don't have cheesecloth protecting them from the sun. No, I don't got no N scale cheesecloth!

These tobacco barns are much too well built. Wait 'til you see the potato sheds on the next level.

Wait 'til I get a new keyboard with a functioning "t" in it! I won' have o reype everyhing!

Looks like the same awesome talent is back this weekend, so I submit my own work with hat in hand...

Nice work, everyone. You all take me to a different, yet familiar, place. Of course, the steam helps...a lot!

Another attempt to learn how to make everything come together...the yard, and its imaging. The double slip is my only hand built turnout of its type, and it actually works. It is a bit bumpy, depending on what is going through it, but I can tune it over time. Thanks for taking a look.

(gulp)...ummm, no. It is a Walther's built-up. :embarassed:

I agree, though, that it is very nice. I'll have to weather and decal it, but that is a project for a really bad day outside.

Thanks for noticing!

Very nice everyone! I've been lurking for quite a while now. Life has kept me away from modeling. Work has been keeping me busy but I have just accepted a new job that will result in us moving so hopefully I'll get a bigger train room...=) Keep up the great work ya'll.

Here is my PRN San Antonio and Pacific RS1 lashed up with two SP/SSW RSD5s. The RS1 has the NSN retroframe for extra pulling power, so all three of these together are heavy enough for the switchers at the Texas Grain Company, Sugarland, Texas.

No modeling from me... I spent 3 of the more hardcore, difficult days railfanning in my favorite part of Colorado, with a great friend:

http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/630/Mike3.jpg

We bagged shots like this at Tunnel 27:

Bridge 36.45:

and this, in Gore Canyon at Tunnel 40:

And MANY more!!

Mark,

It's a kitbash from Bachmann's Car Repair shed. I just cut the walls and trusses down, and used walls as the roof. Very quick and easy.

Man, I don't even LIKE UP, and those are just great Colorado shots!
(Maybe now that the lawyers have retreated, you do a calendar? As Victor would say, hohohohoho)

Last week I got the Allegheny & South Side Whitcomb 65-tonner done, this weekend I finished the Grace 2900 high centercab.

http://gustafson.home.westpa.net/WH6533.jpg

On the layout world, once again City Oil in Flagstaff shows that you're liable to see just about anything there as a private plant switcher, with their passion for short-term 'have I got a deal for you' industrial locomotive leases:

http://gustafson.home.westpa.net/Grace_2900_Flagstaff.jpg

This will also be the 'official note' that I've got instructions, decals, and enough kits ahead I'm offering the Tomytec resin conversion kits for the various Whitcomb 65-tonner versions. Email me or PM me if interested, I'll send out the instructions in advance as a .PDF if you provide me your email address.

I finally managed to locate a second CNW F3 at a local show yesterday enabling me to make a matching A-A set.

I soundchipped one of them and chipped the other with an NCE chip, after removing the Lenz chip that was already installed (didn't have speed tables and I was unable to match the speed of the 2 locos)

Great pics everyone else. The modeling is superb as usual.

The cars are looking good!

I don’t have any special shots this weekend. I was too busy to set something up.

I did make some trees as shown:
http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/1425/Layout_001a.jpg

http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/1425/Layout_002a.jpg

Also here are some overall shots of the RK&M. This are in disarray as you can see. That happens when parts are under construction as the Drexel Ridge is. These are not the greatest since one of my overhead lights is on the fritz.

The Water Tower Diorama is in the background here:

http://www.ScaleRailsOnline.com/images/Galleries/jwaldo/118/DSCN1586.jpg

Now to paint the wheels and find a way to tint the windows...

For my buses, I use auto tint window film. I purchased it by the foot from Tap Plastic (about $3 per foot which will last for a long time.) If you don't like it, just peel it off again. It does not leave anything on the glass.

http://usloki.tripod.com/images/decal/busggt1515.gif

http://www.tapplastics.com/info/windowfilm.php?#tuff

It is a two piece film. You peel off one piece and the other piece of the film sticks to the glass inside. I used the 65% privacy so you can still see through the windows.
