Tom Stolte posted the following photo, plus others, last night, of a Colorado Railcar double deck DMU set passing through Kansas City on the 3rd. There is a Florida DOT logo along with the USDOT logo.

Anyone know where in Florida these are headed? Probably Miami, but could be Orlando as I heard they were talking about a commuter train demo there.

According to DRGW.net (http://www.tri-rail.com/), they are Tri-Rail's. Tri-Rail did a test for them already and they appear to like them well enough.

Those would be Tri-Rail's due to the color scheme and the logo on the side.

Greg,
Your right about Orlando getting train service. Its going to start in Tampa. Its called "Fla. High Speed Rail". It will be electric trains, running alongside I-4.
Right before I got sick,I put in a call to them. I was told to call back in late 2008,early 2009.Thats when they figure they'll be ready to hire crews. A bunch of us from NJT are going to be putting applications.

SecretWeapon, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the citizens of Florida rescinded the Constitutional Amendment authorizing the construction of the high speed railroad network last Fall, so the project is dead as a doornail. Absolutely no work is being done - no design work, no right of way acquisition, nothing.
Disney basically was responsible for causing the demise of the system. If it didn't serve Disney World exclusively, they did not want it built.

Hey Greg,
Your killing me. Oh Well. I guess I'll have to wait until I retire to get down there full time. Unless I buy another truck & start running Fla. again.
Hey Matt,
Its not that Transit is bad,we're just sick of Jersey. The winters, taxes, expenses, etc.

That sounds tempting Mike. I'm about burnt out on this freight grid lock.

Don,
If Greg is right & there's no reason to doubt him, We'll have a long wait. Right now I'm concentrating on getting better & getting back to work.

Tri-Rail has had one Bi-level DMU and one single-level DMU (the original prototype/demonstrator) for a good while now, along with Colorado Railcar's first Bi-level DMU trailer. The cars that Tom Stolte posted are the second Bi-level DMU and second trailer, with two more Bi-level DMUs yet to be delivered so that they can make two three-car sets.
Hard to say what will happen to the prototype/demonstrator the complete sets should be at least testing by the end of July (if not sooner).
Here are some links to the earlier DMUs already being tested on Tri-Rail...

I also recommend anyone interested to look at Jodie Moore's Ultradome website, probably the best resource for Ultradome information...
