How would go about finding, making, or modifying N-scale cabeese to Missouri Pacific prototype? As in pre-1955 cabooses? :embarassed:

The only prototype reference to an MP steam era caboose I can find is in a big book titled American Car & Foundry by Kaminski. I asked my local public library to find it for me on interlibrary loan, and in a few weeks, I received the US Dept of Transportation's departmental library copy of the book.
p.332 shows side and end views of MP 89, a wood caboose blt 1930.

The closest N-scale model I can find is Micro-Trains Lines series #51000 34' wood-wided caboose with straight cupola. It has 3 windows on the long end of the car in front of the cupola, and 1 window behind. The windows on the prototype are spaced more evenly than those on the model, but the model would be a pretty good stand-in. From the b&w photo, I would guess the prototype was a tuscan red/brown.

While I am at it,
the MTL 50000 series with slanted cuploa appears to be SP prototype.
