The above listed units are still in active service.
However- SP 117 & 179 are in North Little Rock for repainting into yellow and grey.
SP 7956, SP 8577, and SSW 9653 are in NLR for repair and may get patched/painted.
SP 4862 is headed to CEECO in WA for Overhaul and probably painting.


Below are the stored units and why they are out of service. None are expected back
on the active roster as SP units, although SP 4859 has a slight chance

SP 4859 - Overhaul in CEECO
SP 5101 - Conversion to Genset loco
SP 5110 - Conversion to Genset loco
SP 7828 - Conversion to Genset loco
SP 7862 - Conversion to Genset loco
SP 8283 - Awaiting retirement orders
SP 8293 - Awaiting retirement orders

Hey Mike, thanks for the list. Was wondering just how many are left. Looks mostly like AC4400s and GP40-2s with a few GP60s and SD40M-2s as well.

I remember years ago discussing with my buddy how someday we would be out chasing the last few SP units and how different that would be. That day is most sadly here. I always wonder if sometime during my lifetime I'll be out chasing the final UP units as well.

Interesting how one of the D&RGW repainted Geeps is still unmolested by the Borg.... SP 3086. Thanks for posting!
