My wife and I are going to visit Seattle from St. Paul in March to visit our new (not here yet) great-grandson and we're considering Amtrak. Some neighbors have suggested that we'd be better off flying this time and saving the train trip for a different month when the scenery is better. I'd appreciate any input from those who know the route. Also, if we go by train, it'll only be onw-way. Any suggestions whether eastbound or westbound is more desireable from a daylight standpoint?
Thanks

I'd suggest going to the Amtrak web site, and downloading the current schedule for their Empire Builder. See where you'll be in darkness, and light. I have a TT around here somewhere, from last Spring. But can't find it right now.

In March, you'll likely see snow in mountains. Depending upon weather, (cold), trees might not leaf out until late April. So for color, it could seem a bit drab.

Being RR biased, time of year for vegetation beauty doesn't bother me. Just hoping for enough daylight to see a fair amount of country.

Flying is much, much faster... But...?
