Hi all,

I recall reading the answer to this one a while back, but it seems to have fallen out of my head like so many other things...

I've seen many SP locos with a small symbol (a circle, diamond, triangle, etc.) above the cab side number. What do they indicate?

Thanks all :shade:

They were spark arrestor symbols. IIRC, the diamond and triangle indicated a couple of different types of internal spark arrestors, while the circle indicated the unit was equipped with a turbocharger.

Thanks! :shade:

I'm decaling an SW1200 and needed a diamond. And I couldn't remember just what that was :o

Now I just need to find the right "F" "fuel", "fire extinguisher", and "DANGER: 600 VOLTS" decals (the ones with white letters and no background, instead of red-on-white or white-on red)...
