when did the rock island first

come out with the new powder blue paint scheme or the rock logo? was it in 1977 ? i am curious as when the first blue units to arrive on the rock island. i do know that the gp7 's were probally the first to be painted but i could be wrong. :embarassed:

I believe it was in 1975 and the gp-7 4508 was the first unit to get the blue/white paint.

If it wasn't 1975, then it was early 1976. Introduced during the CRP. What was it's nickname? "Ingram Blue?"

The 4508 was outshopped in April of 1975 with the 4517 following in May. The first thing in blue I remember seeing was a 40ft boxcar spotted in Gravette, Ar. in the summer of 1975.
