I am looking for the history of this locomotive on display at the B&O museum. I can't find any matches for this locomotive on the internet. Is this an original B&O locomotive?

As far as I know, everything is original. I might be wrong.....the number board tend to give away that it is an actual B&O GP9. 6409 was a real GP9 locomotive and the style of the numbers appear to be exactly was used by the B&O

I was looking for the road number chance after the B&O was merged into the C&O. From what I have read, most of the units eventually saw Chessie yellow paint and I can't seem to find the connection the post merger Chessie. I have looked through several Internet sites that show a picture of 6405, but nothing on a B&O locomotive roster. Guess I have something to do on these hot summer nights.

I thought 6405 was a B&O GP7 and retained that number until repainted as Chessie System 5605. As a part of the B&O/C&O merger, the individual railroads actually retained separate identities.
Here is the link to North East Rails:

And a link to a picture of B&O 6405 at the B&O Musuem:

Here is the Chessie repaint and renumber (at the museum prior to repaint back to B&O?):

And a shot of original B&O 6404 (close as I could get to 6405):

I was looking on north east rails earlier and did not find the connection. Here is a link to 6405 in '71 B&O paint

6407 is a GP7, not a 9. All of the GP9s as far as I know came with dynamic brakes. Anyway, it's labeled a GP7 at the museum. Here's a picture of it I took.
