Hey Guys! It seems to be slow on this forum but I love the Soo Line and plan on modeling it in HO. Probably the 70s-80s Soo. Any other Soo Modelers out there?

Howdy, JM, and welcome aboard! :)

Yep, Soo modeller here but in N Scale. Saw your image of the newer SD40-2 posted earlier. Nice 'new' shot.

Wyatt should be along shortly, too.

JMPowell-

Welcome to TrainBoard!

I'm not a modeler of anything Soo. But a paperwork collector. I do also enjoy seeing depot photos, and pictures of older, pre-red/white, diesels.

I have also a certain affinity for the SOO LINE. I like however the red-white color pattern, and then dirty like it was in the last days of the SOO.

I really like your Soo RS-27's, Wolfgang. :)

Unfortunately the Dolly Sisters didn't make it anywhere near the end of the Soo Line proper, nor repainted in the 'hockey stick' scheme.

They were uncermoniously retired after a rather chequered career where they were usually kept together and close to Shoreham (home depot) in case they failed. Towards the end they were paired with F7B units on occasions for the above reason - at least the B-units could push them home.
The same problems occurred with the U30-C's and their less than spectacular service, due in part to the shop forces being trained/experienced with EMD's and not GE's. :(

Still, if LL was to issue the Soo RS-27's in N I'd have to get the pair. :D

Thanks for the welcome guys

Gats: I didn't post a picture of an SD40-2. Anyway. I have lots of n scale stuff too and almost decided to build my layout in n scale but I really really like the amount of detail available in HO. It would be cool if LL made some n scale RS27s

BoxcabE50: A paperwork collector? I plan to run my layout using protoype paperwork from the Soo Line and adhere to the standards for their equipment.

Wolfgang Dudler: Great models of the Dolly Sisters! You even have the stack-like thing on one of the models! I have to get myself a pair of them. The Red & White scheme is my favorite especially when its all dirty.

The second engine will get these part one day too. I've asked in the Dolly sisters thread (http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=77114) for this and Tom gave an explanation.

Now, I'm missing a caboose. Who offers a SOO-line caboose??

Wolfgang, Centralia Car Shops have done wooden caboose kits in the past but I believe they are as rare as hen's teeth, though there is a rumour that they will be releasing a version based on the kit in RTR 'soon'.
Otherwise, there's Atlas' EV model as well.

Sorry, JM, it was N Scale Mike who posted the SD40-2 image. You replied to the thread. My oops! :)
