I recommend two books on the B&M. Both are well organized and written, with a good amount of first-person stories, and lots of excellent photos.
They are "Boston and Maine - City and Shore", and "Boston and Maine - Forest, River, and Mountain", both by Robert Willoughby Jones. They were published by Pine Tree Press, Los Angeles, CA.
However, they are pricey. Amazon.com is listing each at $79.95. It's possible that some of the Train Board advertisers, or those in Trains may offer these books at a lower price.
