Athearn has announced the release of the SOU GP40X late this year. Rd numbers will be 7000 and 7002. They will be high-hooded as well. You can do a search on the Athearn site for more info.

That is a model I never thought I'd see in plastic.

It's been available in plastic as a kit for a while... well, before Athearn bought Rail Power Products. (The Athaern GP60M and SD38 are also former RPP shells)

Thank goodness the GP-40X's are out of my era. As it is right now, Athearn and Intermountain have first call on my modeling budget for the next six months. My layout may remain track deficient for the same period.
