The City of Auburn has sold NP #2152 on April 3rd, 2006 to the NP Railway museum in Toppenish for an undisclosed sum of money! Good news, but I was kinda hopimg it would stay a little closer to home, like the Mount Ranier Scenic or The Snoqaulmie Museum. Oh well, just as long as she's taken care of like she deserves.

At least it will remain in the same region. On old home road rails. A little drier area. :D

Can you find out what's been happening with that Group? I'd heard something about having a struggle, concerning still operating on the line they'd had? When I last looked at their web site, it didn't have more current news?

At least it is staying in the state, I might be one of the few who is glad it is not going to Snoqualmie though. Everytime I go by there the stuff they have sitting just looks worse and worse. That and I was told by a reliable sorce that at one time BN offered them the Mapel Valley-North Bend line for a sum of $1, the museum could not make up there mind and and BN tore up the line.

Kevin-

Not certain who told you that. It's a fairy tale. BN wanted all the rails out for re-lay elsewhere. I know all the facts. I was directly involved. Send me a PM if you want details.

I will agree that it may be going to a better place. Drier climate. But what proper steam restoration facilities, are available in eastern WA, I wonder.

So will it move by truck? Or by rail (depressed center flat?) car?

Has anyone been down to Auburn, or heard anything lately? I'll try to make it down in the next couple of days to check on her.

Well, checked her out on the way home lastnight. The cab's gone, and so is the front of the smokebox, otherwise looks the same. I wonder if they looked inside the boiler and found Asbestos in the boiler?

Sounds strange. Not the best appearing situation. Should be any asbestos inside. Although there could be some in a few other places, most of what's on a steam engine, was the lagging under boiler jacketing.

No nasty stuff found inside and no jacket! Just stuff the bums and kids left and 2in tube ends in the smoke box.

2152 move date has been set back because the City of Auburn want to remove the building next to the locomotive first.
So that will give the group more room to pull it out.:shade:

I swung by there on Monday. The roof is off of the shelter and a little more of her is taken off. Most of her is still there. Will check again in a week or so. :teeth:

Sounds like there must be a small crew working on her. Hope she's not exposed to a winter of wet and wind.

It's been mid-seventies here all week!:teeth: If anything, she dried out a little! Atleast when she's on the other side of the hill, it'll be dryer for the resto.

NP 2152 is now in Toppenish with NP 1364. It came over Snoqualmie Pass this morning and was unloaded at the Northern Pacific Railway Museum. The move went uneventfully using Ness Crane Service to lift the boiler of the frame and the move made with a total of four trucks. Russell Crane lifted the pieces back onto the track and 2152 is back on live track though a long way from operation.

Doug-

Welcome to TrainBoard!

Can you give us some insight, into future plans for 2152?

How are things going these days, at Toppenish? I seem to recall some difficulty about trackage operated? Was that resolved?

I drove by the Auburn Park yesterday and looked at the empty spot where she used to sit for so long, and I got a little ckoked up, it's like an old friend that's moved away. Anyone know how she's doin' over in her new home?
