I don't recognize the paint scheme on this engine. ( graemlins/bleh.gif ) Where was it found?

It had a red, white and black version of the BN paint scheme put on it. It ran on the Great Western Railroad in Colorado, I think. It didn't weather very good that's for sure. Pink isn't a color any self respecting engine would want to be seen in. :D

I would rather see it in its original paint job, just like the Geep on display in Elko, NV on the old alignment (before the tracks got moved south of downtown).

Tough call on the repaint. We have one in silver and orange already. The only GP-7 with the new image was the SN 711. It got burnt coming over Sherman Hill after it got repainted into UP yellow, thanks to a dumb engineer that wanted to see if it still ran. Anyway, a good green and orange with full stripes on both ends would be ok. Although two s/o GP-7's would be really neat looking, along with the 2001. Since I didn't put money in the fund or help in the logistics of getting it back, I’ll sit back and wait. :D

As a side note, we have many projects on going and need more support. With the price of Gas going up our volunteer support will be less I’m afraid.

Wasn't the red/black with white stripes those of the Washington Central, an 80's spin off of low-use BN lines in Washington State?

I would of suggested orange/silver for the GP7 but, as you mentioned Gregg, there's one already in that paint. New image may be the way to go though it's not the original 711. :(

It finally left Cheyenne?
This unit spent considerable time in Cheyenne....

Here's one shot, in former Arizona Central colors:

Gary-

The WCRC did have a red/black scheme. But it was different from this unit as pictured. And it also had the "Seahawk" (football team) style logo on the engines flanks.

Question...given the Arizona Central lettering on the locomotive and the fact that it was stored in Cheyenne...was this used on one of Westerm Railroad Builders Wyoming/Colorado Railroad operations? AZCR and WYCO are both sister operations in the WRB shortline family.

Hard to believe WCRC was in operation. Yet is already gone for about ten years. graemlins/wow.gif
