WP in the Feather River Canyon

At 7 am the WP 3529 West is pulling in the siding of Pulga in the Feather River Canyon. July 11th still found the WP still an independent railroad with such trains as the Bay Area Forwarder or simply the BAF.

With the sand clouds around the wheels, and the exhaust rocketing out of the stack of the trailing GP40, it looks like the engineer has his hands full. I can almost hear the whine of three turbocharged 645s at full throttle.......

Engine number appears to read "904?" Am I correct?

The operators name is "Josserand." I am wondering of this is realte to the person by that same name who wrote "Rights Of Trains?" The handbook for training train order operators?

This order is dated 1947. During that same time, there was supposedly a Josserand who wrote and submitted a few stories to either Railroad, or Trains magazine. Same person?

Also, does anyone have a photo of a depot at Pulga? Seems as though it was somewhat remote. Might have had living quarters in any station there?

WP 904 would have been a set of FT's. As far as the operator, hard to say. It looks like a trainorder that would have been used to take down a slow order or something of that nature.

Very cool Ken. I personally have never seen a picture of the station at Pulga. They had a small post office, which still stands, albeit a bit run down. :D
