Here is the only photo I have on my site of an SP coal train. It's not great, but it's all I have. I'm not even sure if I have any other decent pictures in my collection. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

By the way, the photo is of rear end helpers (note the caboose between the units and hoppers)

What era are you looking for? Modern ACs or stuff like Kevin's photo?

That's awesome, Kevin! SD-45 with red lettering! very rare (to me) where was the photo taken... if it were anything but a coal train it would look like East Bay area, (Mt Diablo) but I know it isn't... is it?

The train shown is an Eastbound train going away from the camera. The location is East of the Cement Plant at Monolith (East of Tehachapi, CA). The train is downgrade on the east slope of Tehachapi Pass headed toward Mojave. The windmills (similar to the ones in the Bay Area) cover the hillsides between Tehachapi and Mojave. As a side note for those unfamiliar with SP lettering, the red letters on the trailing SD45 is caused by the lettering peeling away and revealing the primer underneath the gray paint (note that the second unit is approaching a similar lettering state). In 1986, that unrebuilt SD45 was living out it's last days on the SP.
