I just completed an update of my website tonight. Part of the update includes a Southern Pacific Photo Gallery. Just go to the site and select the Photo Galleries Page. On the photo galleries page, just click on the SP logo. Here is one of the photos from the new gallery:

Right again, Alan. For someone so far away, you have a very good eye for Tehachapi locations http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif.

Yet another beautiful shot, Kevin...I need to get to Tehachapi again, and soon! Love those SP SD70M's, too.

That photo will always be one of my most memorable. I was trackside at a grade crossing standing on a pile of trackside ballast maybe 25 feet from the rails, with that Challenger bearing down on me at about 70 MPH. Yeah, a little scary, but you just don't get many chances to experience that anymore. I'll bet it was interesting when such events were a daily occurrence, but that was before my time, as they were already scrapping diesels when I was born (1969).
