Just out of curiosity, are there any Southern engines left out there that have not been retired and scrapped or painted into the NS paint scheme? I can't remember the last time I saw a Southern engine, and it's frustrating, because I really like Southern.
So would anyone have any ideas out there?

The Carolina Southern RR operates an ex-Southern GP30 regularly...

Also, the NC Transportation Museum operates a GP30 as well!

Cool, thanks Chessie! smile.gif
Unfortunately though, NC is long drive from my part of VA down there, so I won't be seeing any of those trains in person for myself any time soon. LOL!
But to compensate, I keep my eyes peeled for any ex-Southern engines painted in the NS scheme that are still in service. I still see some from time to time, and try to imagine them in their former scheme. :D

Although there are plenty of SOUTHERN locos still in service on NS, probably the only painted in SOUTHERN is 4610 (which was not really a SOUTHERN purchase):
