Well, to me anyway:
I was photographing the old trackage and abandoned rights of way at Hobart, in particular, Hobart Feed (used to be the old Chickasa Cotton Oil Mill) which recently went out of business here.
The old team tracks and scales, feed drops are still there (sort of), and I discovered that there was apparently no switch at the wye where Rock Island and Frisco met. I fact, I can find no evidence that the two roads shared anything there except ties under the track.
Apparently the wye trackage from the Rock and Frisco never connected with each other anywhere. They both have tracks to the feed mill, but they do not connect. In other words, there are 4 rails (two sets) and they are not even the same weight of rail, or don't look like it to me.
Was this a common practice? Because I have never observed it before. :confused:
