Another former Frisco branch is being abandoned. While on vaction back from Florida back to Kansas City I took a side trip up I-55 to Hayti. A short section of the branch remains in Hayti on which bulkhead flats were being loaded with railroad ties which brought back bad memories of the Winona branch abandonment. My worst fears were confirmed at Pascola were the rail was removed. The ties had just been removed, the rail was laying on the side of the roadbed and the crossing signals remained at all the crossings from Pascola to Kennett. The 4 bridges at Kirk, MO. over "The Floodway" were still in place but the welders were just getting started on removing them. Anybody interested in the line should take a look now cause if it is anything like the Clinton Sub abandonment, the right-of way will soon be fenced off and removed by farmers. Later! Roger
