Watash you are so welcome and I don't mind a little gushing it makes my day. I am retired cause of Polio so I spend my days here to keep me sane. My Grandfather and Uncle were railroad men working for the Milwaukee Railroad. It is in my blood and I love it Watsash. smile.gif ;)

Railroad gals are a special breed, and get better with a little age. They seem to get ripe, but never older! Someday, I'll tell you the tale of "Aunt Tillie the Tooter"! Now she was a railroader of the old school, up in the mountain country! :D

Dear Lady Sunshine,

That pic of the 4501 is a "bit of alright". She is a classic beauty.

If I recall correctly, this is the very locomotive on display in Grant Beach Park in my hometown of Springfield, MO. I know the loco in the park is in the 4500 series anyway. The years are taking their toll on her. Some local supporters were able to erect a roof over her head about 12 or 15 years ago.

Thanks for the pic. You do well, Lady S.

Toottoot,

Ed

I want to think that is is 4524 that is stuffed & mounted in Grant Park in Springfield, MO. It was either 4500 or 4501 that was supposed to be resotred to service, but wound up in so many pieces before work ground to a halt (sounds like some of my modeling projects :eek smile.gif

That IS a nice pic....too bad Clark Hungerford, SLSFpresident at the time, wasn't too fond of fancy paint schemes

Bob, you are right. 4524 is in Springfield. 4501 is in Dallas and I'm surprised Stuart B. hasn't jumped in here on this one. He has a site featuring the Museum in Dallas and the 4501. smile.gif

That's right- I shoulda remembered that, as many times as I've been to the Age of Steam Museum.

Frisco 4501 and 1625 (a Russian decapod lettered for Eagle-Picher Mining Company on the side) flank a UP Big Boy. I've got enough shots of all three steamers, as well as the Centennial and GG1.
