Busted! I've been messing around with the idea of a real "heritgage" scheme proposal for awhile and wrote BNSF a couple years ago [got no response]
Figured it was time to try again so I did up another proposal and inquired again last week and included the pic above. Much to my surprise I did get a response! Unfortunately there are no plans to do something like this, but at least they did talk about it. Their primary concern for the moment is gaining enough equity in the BNSF brand before moving forward with a project of this type.
The original photo credit goes to Michael Wise who took the photo in 79 (St. Louis) I did modifications to the image - primarily physical mods to the loco - to promote the possibility of using existing locos without retro-ing the physical makeup of how they exist today (horns, lights, antennae, etc) and to pull the viewer into seing this as something that could exist now. Of course the fake time stamp helps the imagination too. hehe.
Unfortunately the original photo isn't pulling up on the Frisco.org site where I originally found it and I plan on pulling this one down as well soon since it's served it's purpose.
I sure wish it were reality though. I was only ten the last time I saw a red and white (back in 81 before we were stationed in Europe) Maybe someday if I ever become independantly wealthy, I'll buy a retiring GP and paint it myself smile.gif Cheers. -Mike

That's really an interesting paint scheme! Good work by the way. The changes you made look real.

That's pretty funny. I wonder if that means that they just don't have the cash to do those paint schemes or they want to make sure everyone hears of them before they confuse people.
Keep up the good work. Maybe we could just get them to start with one unit and keep going until they are all Frisco.

I'm sure it is due to the latter...wanting to get the identity of the new BNSF established before confusing people. I thought they already were pretty well established, but then again, I'm a train buff and know these things, right? :D
Until then, I guess I'll keep hope alive and keep dreamin'! Thanks for the kind words on my "handiwork."

I'll bet that the guy that told you that won the corporate doubletalker of the month award.
Hmmmm, let's tell him that our corporate identity is so fragile that we can't do it.
Hey, they wouldn't know what to do with a Frisco locomotive anyway.

I contacted a BNSF official about the possibility
of a Frisco repaint, and he gave me the song-and-dance routine about the present colors of BNSF containing all the colors of the predecessor roads. Funny, but I don't remember any Frisco engines in green and Omaha orange.....
Until that day, the only locomotives we'll see in Frisco markings will be 1522 and 1630.

CharlieNah, no reason to blow his mind (small explosion).
Come to think of it, I didn't see ANY black at all on the Tijuana Taxi paint scheme.
And I'm not even gonna try to ask him about the NEO! :D :D
Fortunately, thanks to Railroad Paintshop (http://www.paintshop.railfan.net) , we can paint up "what-if" diesels in Frisco.

I don't see the AT&N in there either. This "BNSF" or whatever must be some kind of bogus operation.
Looks like the freak took his photo off. :(

Yep! :D In a parallel universe where things went a little differently 20 years ago, SLSF today pays homage to it's predecessors with it's heritage fleet... ;)

Now there's the way things should be!
If we could just turn the clock back a few years and set this all straight.
