From George Irwin's Unofficial MicroTrains Release Report (UMRTRR) comes the following news for Pennsy N modelers:
_________________________________
First, we are beginning to see print advertisements for the next all new car, the 109000 series Heavyweight Depressed Center
Flat Car. This car has all new tooling including detailed deckig relief, and will
come with all new 6 wheel Buckeye Trucks
to support the listed 250,000 pound capacity. First out will be 109010 for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Those of you with
PRR prototype data, the reporting marks are to be PRR 470011 and the car class is F-35. Happy research! We'll get to ours when
we get closer to the actual release month.

There are two builder's photos of PRR470011
dated Sep 7, 1940 at this URL http://prr.railfan.net/freight/freightphotos.html
Since these cars are heavy duty ones, it would not surprise me to see them still on the Conrail roster today.

Did a bit more research and found that Heavy Duty Flatcars (AAR Class FM), being so few in number, even rate their own website, sponsored by RICA, the Railway Industrial Clearance Association.
Check it out at this URL

Looks like 'Roco' got the jump on MicroTrains. I've had two identical N guage Pennsylvania RR Heavyweight Depressed Center Flat Cars for several months. They have the 6 wheel Buckeye Trucks and wooden platform. #470 000
Details are not bad...only one brake stand where as the factory photo shows two, one at each end. ??
Did a little kitbashing to create a very Heavy Weight Depressed Center Flat, which PRR had one of (FD2). My trucks are 4 wheel and PRR's had 8-wheel T1 locomotive tender trucks.

The same website that has the builders photos of this car has a webpage just on this particular class:
http://prr.railfan.net/freight/classpage.html?class=F35
It has highlighted red links to the 3F-F2
6-wheel Buckeye trucks, a color photo of an
HO brass model of the car, and the PRR
equipment diagram.

Here's a website showing the 'Roco' 6-wheel trucks, depressed flats. (E-R Models). Come in various road names and with various loads.

A color photo of this new car is featured in the MTL ad in the inside back cover of the Jan-Feb 2001 issue of N Scale Railroading. A great looking model, for sure. Thanks, MTL.
The model is shown in (tuscan?) red with white lettering but the accompanying text says the car is black with white lettering.
Equally interesting is the note on the 6-wheel Buckeye trucks as new product # 1173. These are due to be released separately
once the flatcar is available.
These new trucks will be excellent candidates for other heavy duty applications such as steam locomotive tenders, etc.
Thanks again, MTL.
Happy Holidays
