Guys,
Does anyone know if there are any photos of the roundhouse there? What year did it get torn down?

I didn't know there had been one. So if something turns up, it would be fun to see it! The only thing I have from Coulee City, is a slide I was given years ago, of the depot.

Could we see it?

Yes. But I don't have a slide scanner. Don't know anyone who does. I keep hoping to scrape up enough money, and get one.

Dan-

Hope you're still checking in!

If you have access to anyoen with NP related books, or have a copy, check out page 83 of Northern Pacific Color Pictorial-Volume 2, by Joseph Shine.

There is a before and after view showing the Coulee City depot as built, then what it looked like after major remodeling. Only end views, a the focus is on the train. But better than nothing.

He doesn't give a date, or reason for the work. I'd be interested in knowing!

I just checked the pictures, and a couple things I notice is that the telephone pole on the top picture looks only a few years newer than the one in the bottom picture, which don't look too old itself.

Also the tree behind the station has grown a few years taller (besides being trimmed ). Same window treatments on top of the grain tower on the left of the tracks.

Before and after pictures are fun! graemlins/wink.gif

I'm still here!!!

The depot is still in town, just a few hundred feet from its original location, now housing a senior center. It has been remodeled a bit, but it still has "Coulee City" signboards on both ends. White lettering on black background.

I recently found out that the elementary school had old pictures in the halls, one of the roundhouse. Unfortunately I do not know if they are still there as the school got remodeled 2 years or so ago.

BTW, I've seen the pictures in Shines book. It does look different now!
Where the depot used to stand there are now 2 large concrete grain silos. They can load 26 cars in 2 hours with it. Quite a change from the boxcars I used to see there in the late 70s.
