Is anyone out there interested in NYC steam, as in Hudsons, Niagaras, Mohawks? If so, check out my site at http://www.pioneer.net/~fitzrr

Anyone have any NYC steam photos they wish to share?

Fitz,

Nice site http://www.trainboard.com/cool.gif

I had to edit the URL in my browser because your link has a "." at the end that should be there. You can fix your posting using the "Edit" feature and remove the "." at the end of the URL.

I will slowly be uploading D&H Steam shots on my site that might have run on the NYC lines. The DHVM is very early in it's construction; but, you might enjoy the Steam section there when it's built.

Welcome Aboard !!!!!!!

fitz;

I edited the post for you. The 3rd icon from the left allows you to edit your message.

It is not necessary to use UBB or HTML tags to make a link unless you want extra text associated with it. Simply typing http://www.pioneer.net/~fitzrr will cause the text to be displayed as a link. http://www.trainboard.com/smiles/046.gif

The J3's are what I like the most about the NYC System, the streamlines are the MOST!

(If you want to know what that is, it's a J3 and a "water scoop" tender with "Buckeye" trucks!) "You can't run dry on the fly!"

Since I started this thread, and in response to the last two, somewhere on my site are located photos of both the scooping of water (How many of you young guys knew that the NYC had scoops and track pans for picking up water on the fly?) and I was going to say the "blow on the slow" but don't have that one. One of Al Staufer's books has a classic picture of a Hudson (what's left) following a boiler explosion in Canastota, NY, and it ain't pretty. Just bent tubes, no boiler. http://www.pioner.net/~fitzrr

Hey guys I forgot to put this other link on, if you want to see a HUGE collection of New York Central Steam photos. George Elwood's site is at http://www.dnaco.net/~gelwood/other/nyc.html
It is the most impressive collection of NYC stuff I have seen on the net. http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif
