Good looking gif, a little jerky on my machine. How much does it cost to buy one of the gif's? Could a still gif be used on an email?

Watash, doesn't cost anything except for the time and brain drain required to animate it. Justin Nelson has created quite a few of them at Animated Gifs (http://www.geocities.com/skytop45/) and all he asks is that you email him and inform him where you are using them. I'm sure you can put one on an email. I'll send you one and try it. ;)
