I was stationed at O'Hare International Airport between April 1956 and May 1959. The first year there, I lived in the barracks. To the rear of the barracks was the SOO tracks.

Many times I was able to see trains going by.

Higgins road underpass just north of the USAF military area was another good SOO railfan spot.

In and around O'Hare were many railfan spots.

If I only had a camera.

Previously posted, but taken near where the tracks run beside the airport. http://www.railimages.com/g2/d/11033-2/SD60SOO.jpg

It's still a good Railfan spot if you want to see CP. Of course, it's not hard to find railfanning locatons in Chitown.
