That's interesting, Flash!
The only Soo unit I have photographed was # 6058!

This was taken behind End of Track Hobbies when the Midwest-N-Pioneer Club was there. Just luck as I certainly didn't know what I was doing! smile.gif
BTW, doesn't it look like a wide cab? I thought they were all regular cabs.

Flash,
That's one of the last (it may be the last) locomotive Soo Line purchsed before CP bought them. The last four, perhaps more, SD60's they bought were widecabs. So yes, it is a wide cab!

This is an old thread with a broken link to my SOO Line SD60. I fixed the link so I am bumping it back up here for all to see. :D

First time I had seen this paint job.
The first time I saw that paint job was in the Fall of 1989. They were fresh from the factory and the entire locomotive just glowed in the sun when I came upon it. I just had to model it.
At the time there were no ready made models of this loco. I used a Railpower SD60 shell, a Athearn Tunnel motor chassis and drive train and mated a Train Station Products (now Detail Associates) 3 window cab. The Railpower sd60 shell had to be modified to make it into an SD60M
The model has working ditch lights and a working beacon. It was often a long drawn out process to kitbash a loco in those days. Nowadays, there are so many models available and you don't have to spend so much time gathering the parts together. Most manufacturers weren't on the net and you had to have your LHS order everything for you. You also had to make any detail parts that weren't available.

Athearn's SD60M (Genesis) are due soon. Unfortunately they have not announced a 3 window cab model. The only way to do a Soo unit now would be to purchase an undecorated early UP type and use the Detail Associates part 229-3602 (Detail Assoc WIDE CAB EMD NAS SD60M_ UP PHI, LIST PRICE $9.95 #229-3602)
It is available here (Detail Assoc WIDE CAB EMD NAS SD60M_ UP PHI, LIST PRICE $9.95 #229-3602)
